Where to: Los Angeles - The Huntington

This is the inauguration of my new series "Where to", in which I share some tips and great moments at my favorite places around the world! If you love to travel and want to know some good places to visit, then don't miss a post!

The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens

The Huntington Library, as it is usually referred to, is located in the city of Pasadena, close to Los Angeles. If you are here for more than a few days make sure you visit this place! This land used to be Henry Edwards Huntington's home in the early 1900's, and the library used to be his personal collection, containing must-see's such as one of the 12 copies of the Gutenberg Bible (1445). It has many buildings filled with great art collections but the show stopper is all the different gardens. It extends over a giant stretch of land and has gardens in styles from all over the world, with restaurants that accompany the theme. My favorite one was the Chinese Garden.

HUNTINGTON MANSION

ROSE GARDEN AND THE ROSE GARDEN TEA ROOM

The Rose garden was very beautiful and feminine, they had roses of all colors, which made for a beautiful view. We made reservations for the Rose Garden Tea Room, and it was very nice. Inspired by the traditional English tea, they serve scones, sandwiches, and desserts with a beautiful presentation, accompanied by herbal tea, and if you want, sparkling wine. Very elegant and tasty, definitely interesting!

You can purchase tickets at the location or online at The Huntington website (click here: http://www.huntington.org ) that go for $25 per adult. I believe that seniors and children have discounts. The catch is that they make the place available to visit for free on the first Thursday of every month, and you have to reserve tickets on the website on the first day of the previous month.

So worth it!
